Would you like to have a say on the allowances paid to District Councillors?
Mid Sussex District Council are seeking 3 local residents to join a Panel to advise the Council on the level and type of allowances to be paid to District Councillors.
The role requires an ability to act with impartiality, consider financial data, carry out benchmarking and ultimately provide guidance for Council to consider. Previous experience or an interest in the workings of local government would be an advantage but is not essential.
The commitment would include a willingness to attend around 4 meetings usually during office hours depending on the availability of panel members, with follow up work conducted by telephone or email. You may also be consulted on allowances matters at other times of the year.
The appointment is for a four-year term and is of a voluntary nature, although an annual allowance of £500 is paid.
