Mid Sussex have ambitious targets to deliver a minimum of 16,390 new homes by 2031 as set out in our District Plan.  To achieve this, the District will experience substantial growth.  Our Planning Enforcement Team is therefore on the hunt for dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join us a Trainee Planning Officer in our Enforcement Team.

About the role: As a Trainee Planning Officer and working under the supervision of the Planning Enforcement Team Leader and Senior Planning Officer within the team, you will play a crucial role in helping us to safeguard the public and the environment from infringements of planning control.  Planning Enforcement is the backbone of the planning system.  It is a challenging but highly rewarding career path.

Your responsibilities will include supporting the enforcement team, conducting site visits, processing planning applications and collaborating with stakeholders to maintain the integrity of our district’s unique characteristics.

We will actively support your studies as you work towards a Level 7 qualification at university to become a chartered Town Planner as part of the apprenticeship scheme that the Council supports.
