We are looking for an enthusiastic and pro-active individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to foster great relationships supporting our businesses and attracting new ones. The role is fast-paced and full of variety. The Council is ambitious and forward thinking demonstrated in our Sustainable Economy Strategy and Action Plan which sets outs the broad framework for our work, delivering economic growth while protecting our environment and supporting the well-being of our residents.

In this role, you will be working collaboratively with teams across the Council, engaging with external stakeholders across all sectors to build skills and employment opportunities, and to support our high streets and visitor economy. This requires the ability to confidently represent the Council, building and strengthening relationships.

You will be actively involved in identifying, delivering and maximising the benefit of available business support, sharing innovation, growth and funding opportunities and attracting inward investment to support our local economy. The need for a solution-oriented approach and to pro-actively respond to ever-changing economic circumstances means that no two days are ever the same.

Key areas of focus:

Business engagement / business support / inward investment / tourism and visitor economy / skills and employment / town centres and high streets / rural economy / innovation and growth / relationship management / research and analysis / promotion and marketing.
