As a Planning Officer within our Development Management team, you'll play a pivotal role in guiding the growth and development of Mid Sussex. You'll be responsible for processing planning applications and related appeals, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies while balancing the needs of our residents and the community. Your role will also involve processing pre-applications and providing expert advice to the public on planning matters. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to attend planning committee meetings, contributing to the decision-making process and shaping the future of our district.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process planning applications and appeals efficiently and effectively.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on planning matters to the public and stakeholders.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of development proposals, considering their impact on the local area and community.
  • Attend Planning Committee meetings.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across different service areas to ensure co-ordinated and integrated planning decisions.
  • Keep abreast of changes in planning legislation and policy, applying knowledge to the decision-making process.
